Sorry John Shanley...Why some plays are at their best as just plays
Doubt - I went with an open mind. I know Seymour will hold more than his own against Meryl. But this is truly one of those plays that's best as a play. Tennesee Williams translates well to screen. But not All My Sons. Aside - it's intriguing how Ann gets more attention here in the USA not just because Katie Holmes plays it. It's the youth. I reveled playing the mother years ago.
Doubt was boring - I appreciated it as a play and kept wondering what's it doing on screen. I wanted those actors right there on the stage.
Now to Doubt the idea - ahhh - everyday people do it - self, certitude, vanity, but that's the stuff life's made of including loads of doubts.
